Or drop them here. Up to 20 at a time, all in your browser.

Inside the PDF the images become JPEG, which has no transparency: a transparent PNG comes out on a white background — painted first, because a sheet of paper is white — not on a black one.

JPEG and not PNG, for the weight: twenty photographs as PNG inside a PDF make a file nobody can attach to an email. The quality slider is where that gets renegotiated.

Images are reduced to the size needed to print at 150 dots per inch, never enlarged: beyond that the file gets heavy and the page does not gain a single detail.

The orientation written by the camera is applied, the rest of the metadata is not: GPS position, model and date disappear.

The files never leave this page: no upload, no server, nothing saved.

How it works

  1. Drop the images, or pick them with the selector.
  2. Choose the page size, the orientation and the margins.
  3. Reorder by dragging, or use the arrows.
  4. Make the PDF and download it.

What it does

It takes images and puts them into a PDF, one per page, in the order you decide. It is what you need when somebody says «send me the scan as a PDF» and what you have is five photographs on a phone.

A4 or Letter page, portrait, landscape or follow-the-image orientation, normal margins or none.

The files never leave

The images are read by the browser, drawn by the browser and written into a PDF by the browser: no network request goes out. That holds for a scan of an ID document as much as for a family photograph, and on a site that uploads the files somewhere it is not true.

«Fit the image» does not mean «one point per pixel»

One pixel per point, for a four-thousand-pixel photograph, would give a page one metre forty-one across: legal inside a PDF and useless to anybody. Here the page takes the proportion of the image and the long side of an A4 — a sheet of the right size, with no white bands.

With A4 or Letter, instead, the image goes in whole and centred: never cropped. A tool that crops without saying so hands back a photograph with a piece missing, and whoever looks at the PDF does not know it was there. The white bands are the honest price, and anyone who does not want them picks «fit the image».

The camera’s orientation is applied

A portrait photo taken on a phone is written into the file lying on its side, with a note saying to turn it. The browser turns it, so it reaches the page the right way up. Without that step it is not a rare case: it is the normal one.

The rest of the metadata does not survive: GPS position, camera model and date disappear. For a document you are sending that is an advantage, but it is a fact, and it should be said rather than discovered.

Inside the PDF the images become JPEG

The PNG could go in as it is. Twenty photographs as PNG make a hundred-megabyte PDF, which is a file you cannot attach to an email — and a PDF of photographs you cannot send is no use to anybody.

The price is transparency: JPEG has none. A transparent PNG comes out on a white background, painted before the image because a sheet of paper is white — not on a black one, which is what happens when nobody thinks about it. The quality slider is where the weight gets renegotiated.

It never enlarges

Images are reduced to the size needed to print them at one hundred and fifty dots per inch, and never above the pixels they actually have. Beyond that the file gets heavy and the page does not gain a single detail.
