Goal

Stella Spinedi is a Swiss artist, performer and cultural operator. Her site has a precise job: to be the archive of the works, one per page, in order of year, and a page that says who she is, with the exhibitions, the press and the contacts. It does not sell and does not promote: it documents. The goal was a container that would not stand in front of the works and would stay easy to update with every new project.

Audience

People who work in contemporary art and want to see the whole path: whoever curates an exhibition, whoever evaluates an application, whoever has seen a performance and looks for the rest, whoever contacts her for a collaboration. It is an audience that reads in more than one language, and the site does not force it into one: titles and texts appear in Italian, German or English, according to the work and the place where it was presented.

Design logic

The menu holds the name, which leads to the page about her, and the works: nothing else. The archive is a vertical list ordered by year, one title per line, with no previews deciding on the work’s behalf what it should look like: every title opens its own page, where the work shows itself with its own materials. The personal page keeps together the biography, the exhibitions and the press; the contacts sit in the footer, on every page.
