Where we start

From a recording of what you do today, step by step. Ninety per cent of the work is understanding the process; writing the code is the short part.

Often the most useful thing I can say is that automation is not the answer, because the process needs simplifying first. I say it.

What I automate

Pulling and reconciling data between systems that do not talk to each other. Preparing recurring documents. Periodic checks a person currently performs by staring at a screen. Scheduled publishing.

The part that matters

Automation that fails silently is worse than manual work, because nobody notices until the damage is done. So everything I build says when it did not work, and says it to you, not to a log file nobody opens.
