Consulting and second opinions
People with a supplier, a team or a project already under way, who want an opinion from someone with nothing to sell them.
What it is for
Removing a doubt before it becomes a quote. Reviewing an offer you received, choosing between two technologies, checking why a site is slow, a second opinion on an architecture.
How I work
I look, I ask questions and I tell you what I think, including the parts you would rather not hear. Then I write it all down, because an opinion given out loud no longer exists three weeks later.
The conflict of interest
If the session turns up work I could do myself, I say so immediately and give you the name of someone else to ask for a second quote. A consultant who assigns the work to himself is selling, not advising.
